Malaria Pf
Rapid Test
Rapid lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay for the targeted qualitative detection of Plasmodium falciparum Histidine-Rich Protein II (HRP-2) in human whole blood. Dedicated emergency screen for cerebral malaria in 10 to 15 minutes.
High-Sensitivity Screen for Malignant Falciparum Malaria
Plasmodium falciparum is the most aggressive and lethal form of malaria, causing rapid intravascular hemolysis, cerebral capillary obstruction, acute renal collapse, and respiratory acidosis. Targeted screening provides the highest analytical sensitivity for immediate emergency triage.
Histidine-Rich Protein II (HRP-2)
HRP-2 is a water-soluble antigen continuously synthesized by falciparum trophozoites, accumulating in blood circulation during early and active infection.
- Exquisite sensitivity: 50 parasites/µL
- Detects sequestered deep-tissue burdens
- Monoclonal antibody specificity
Cerebral & Organ Sequestration
Mature falciparum schizonts adhere to microvascular endothelium, avoiding splenic clearance and triggering cerebral ischemia and multi-organ failure.
- Directs urgent intravenous or oral ACT
- Critical for ICU & emergency admission
- Prevents progressive fatal neurological injury
Bedside Rapid Fingerstick Protocol
Engineered for instant bedside decision-making without complex laboratory infrastructure, centrifuges, or refrigerated transport chains.
- 10 to 15 minute definitive result
- Direct 5 µL whole blood fingerstick
- Full CE-IVD regulatory validation
Clinical Accuracy vs. Giemsa Microscopy & PCR
Multi-Center Evaluation Cohort (n=650)| Diagnostic Parameter | QuRapid Malaria Pf Rapid Test | Reference Microscopy & PCR | Clinical Performance Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clinical Sensitivity | 99.2% (95% CI: 97.0% – 99.9%) | Giemsa Blood Film Benchmark | Superior Triage Sensitivity |
| Clinical Specificity | 99.6% (95% CI: 98.2% – 99.9%) | Non-falciparum & Healthy Controls | Minimal False Positivity |
| Overall Diagnostic Agreement | 99.5% (95% CI: 98.6% – 99.9%) | Combined Evaluation | 99.5% Concordance |
| Analytical Limit of Detection | 50 parasites / µL blood | WHO RDT Sensitivity Spec (≤200) | Exceeds WHO Guidelines |
4-Step Bedside Procedure for Whole Blood Triage
Rapid workflow for emergency departments, intensive care triage, and travel health facilities.
Blood Acquisition
Prick fingertip with sterile lancet and draw exactly 5 µL of capillary whole blood using the included calibrated transfer pipette.
Inoculation
Dispense the 5 µL of whole blood sample directly into the circular sample well (S) of the test cassette without introducing bubbles.
Buffer Addition
Add 2 to 3 drops of lysis buffer into the buffer well (B). The lysis buffer hemolyzes erythrocytes and mobilizes parasitic HRP-2 antigens.
Visual Readout
Interpret visual results between 10 and 15 minutes under standard illumination. Do not read after 20 minutes.
Diagnostic Interpretation Matrix
Direct visual line interpretation for urgent clinical decision-making and rapid hospital admission.
Positive Differential Findings
Appearance of the procedural Control line (C) and Pf test line.
Negative & Invalid Results
Internal quality control and repeat testing directives.
Everything Included in the Kit Box
All disposables and reagents included for 25 bedside tests without additional laboratory supplies.
